Ajasa Medical Outreach 2025 — Impact Assessment Report

1. Introduction
The Ajasa Medical Outreach held on Saturday, 31st March 2025, was a one-day initiative aimed at delivering essential healthcare services to underserved residents in Ajasa, Lagos. The outreach was part of a continued effort to bridge healthcare gaps by providing direct access to medical consultations, treatments, screenings, and health education at no cost.

2. Objectives
The outreach sought to offer free medical consultations and treatments, conduct health screenings for common conditions, distribute essential medications and supplements, and promote preventive health practices through education.

3. Summary of Activities and Reach
Over 1,000 beneficiaries were attended to during the outreach. The medical team comprised 5 doctors, 5 pharmacists, 5 optometrists, and 10 nurses, totalling 25 personnel. More than 1,000 individuals underwent health screenings, and over 3,500 units of medication and supplements were dispensed. A focused health education session was held, and 15 patients were referred to higher medical facilities for specialised care.

4. Highlights of Services Rendered

  • General consultations covered a wide range of ailments and provided on-the-spot treatment.
  • Screenings for malaria, hypertension, and diabetes enabled early detection and management.
  • Optometrists provided vision assessments, with prescriptions issued to those with impaired sight.
  • Pharmacists ensured accurate dispensing of medications and offered drug-use guidance.
  • Health education focused on hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
  • Patients with more serious or complex cases were identified and referred appropriately.

5. Community Feedback
Beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation for the services provided. Many highlighted the accessibility of the outreach and the professionalism of the medical team. Requests were made for future outreach events to include dental care and run for more than one day.

6. Challenges Encountered
The large turnout led to occasional delays and queues, especially during peak hours. Diagnostic equipment was limited, and a larger volunteer base would have improved crowd management and documentation.

7. Recommendations
To improve future outreaches, it is recommended to extend the programme to multiple days, engage more volunteers, increase the availability of diagnostic tools, and broaden the range of services offered—especially including dental and maternal care.

8. Conclusion
The Ajasa Medical Outreach 2025 successfully met its core objectives, providing critical healthcare services to over 1,000 residents in one day. It not only met immediate health needs but also promoted long-term wellness through education and referral support. Building on this success, future editions can scale in scope and impact.
